Last September my mother and I took a weekend trip to Sydney. While there we went to Taronga Zoo and saw these Extraordinary Elephants.
When you arrive to the zoo you can catch a gondola to the top which takes you over the Elephant house, giving you an Eagle Eye view.
This is the male Elephant, who is being instructed by his keeper through a clicker to move the logs into line from the tyre. It was amazing to watch and Educating to see how intelligent these animals are.
They also had a couple of babies (which were rather large) that you could see Exploring the Enclosure.
This female stopped by to Examine me and say 'Ello.
Such wonderful animals!

I've always been amazed by elephants - did you see the movie "Water For Elephants"? i did AND I read the book, which was far superior.

Don't know why, but I've always been drawn to elephants - may be because their memory is very good:) and they're intelligent as you show here!
ReplyDeleteThey are surprisingly smart! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful pictures! Elephants are my favorite animals. I used to love to go to the Brookfield Zoo and see them, but sadly, for years now, they haven't had any. The last African Elephant they had went into a breeding program in another state years ago, and Illinois zoos no longer have any elephants. It makes me sad that I can't just drive out and see them anymore. Your pictures are very happy and joyous.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing them in their natural habitat when I was young...it;s been long since I saw one...
ReplyDeleteElephants are a popular animal this week, Nice pics.
