ABC Wednesday: S is for Seagulls, Shags, Sea and Sky

Over the weekend I headed out to the to Makara, on the Wellington west coast. Its about a 20 minute drive from Wellington and in a whole other world.

There was plenty of wildlife around, particularly birds which were both in the river/creek inlet and at sea fishing.

These shags appeared to be enjoying the afternoon sun on the sandbank. It almost looked like they were have a contest as to who could stretch the furthest.

Even the seagulls were relaxing in the afternoon sun, especially after so many days of rain.

On the way back to the city I pulled over for one last view of the sea.
